200th Anniversary of Confederate troops landing in Geneva - which led to Geneva joining the Swiss Confederation as the 22nd Canton of Switzerland.

2010 - Olympic Flame - Vancouver Winter Olympic Games

Leading up to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games – the Olympic Torch Relay started on October 30, 2009 in Victoria, British Columbia – as day one of the 106 day journey through over 1,000 communities across Canada (including historic West Shefford (Bromont), Magog and Saint-Lin-Laurentides, Quebec).

2009 - Clan Gathering - Edinburgh, Scotland

In July - the City of Edinburgh hosted the “world’s largest” Clan Gathering celebration for all the Scottish Family Clans with 47,000 people attending from around the world. The main venue was in Holyrood Park beside Holyrood Palace: - 100 Clan Tents, 75 Clan Chiefs, Highland Games, Scottish Food, Scottish Music, Bag Pipe Bands, Scottish Whisky, …
Other events/activities included an emotional Clan Parade up the “Royal Mile” (from Holyrood Palace to Edinburgh Castle – with Pipe Bands, 8,000 participants and 20,000 spectators) - this was followed by an entertaining show on the History of the Clans.

The Palatines originally came from the Palatinate area of south-west Germany (over 160 years before the modern nation-state of Germany was founded) and emigrated to New York State in 1710.

Early Transportation by Stagecoach

As soon as roads were built and well enough developed - horse drawn stagecoaches were used to transport passengers, mail and goods between towns and across regions.

Fenian Raids (1866-1871)

Genealogy Documentary Series - Who Do You Think You Are?

Who Do You Think You Are? - British (BBC), American (TLC & NBC), Australian (SBS), Irish (RTÉ), and Canadian (CBC) - plus other countries - such as Denmark (DR1), Norway (NRK) and Sweden (SVT) - presented in their respective local languages. Genealogy documentary series - each episode traces the ancestry of a different celebrity.
Discoveries have included direct ancestor links with Early New England Settlers, Early Settlers of Canadian Provinces (pre 1867 Confederation) and European Royalty ... and include a combination of inspiring, courageous, dramatic and tragic stories - with family links to important historical periods and events.

DNA test results can provide valuable Genealogical information - as a complement to traditional Genealogical Research.

This is a collection of old photos - unfortunately like many others - where no or very little information was left behind. This makes it very challenging to try and identify the names of the individuals in the photos.
