1000th Anniversary of Viking settlement activity at L'Anse aux Meadows, Canada.
Analysis of tree rings of wooden artifacts found at the Viking
settlement of L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland, Canada - indicate that
the wood
was cut in the year 1021.
This was over 470 years before the voyages of :
Christopher Columbus (1492) and
John Cabot (1497) to America.
It is possible that Leif Erikson visited the L'Anse aux Meadows settlement.
L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site was admitted as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site in 1978.
This was the first year sites were admitted to
the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

to mark the 60th Anniversary of her Birth.
In addition, Princess Diana’s wedding dress was on display in the Orangery at Kensington Palace.
