Ancestry information for John Drake(s) of early New England 1630-1640:

(i) In the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) "Nexus" articles by G. B. Roberts up until at least as recently as December 1987 - John Drake of Windsor, Conn. was referred to as being of Royal Descent (via the Drake family of Ashe, England).
(ii) In the American Genealogist "TAG" articles (i) 63: 193-206 - October 1988 & (ii) 65: 87-88 - April 1990 by R. C. Anderson - questions are raised as to whether the John Drake who arrived in New England in about 1630 (a descendant of the Drake family of Ashe, England) was the same person as the John Drake who settled in Windsor, Conn. in about 1640. In other words the question has been raised whether there was one or two John Drakes in early New England in the period 1630 to 1640.
(iii) Apparently D. Richardson agrees with the theory that there were two John Drake's in early New England (period 1630-1640) - and was apparently going to publish what he believed to be the parentage for John Drake of Windsor, Conn.
D. Richardson's findings have apparently not yet been published.
