Research Notes: Winchester (Old and New Minsters and Hyde Abbey) were the initial and Winchester Cathedral (in Mortuary Chests) the final burial location for some of the early Kings of England - such as Egbert, 1st King of England (died 839) and his son Ethelwulf (died 855).

Ethelwulf married Osburgh. Osburgh died in 852.

Children from this marriage were:

             i.  Ethelbald King of England died on 20 Dec 860 and was buried in Sherborne Abbey.

            ii.  Ethelbert King of England died in 866 and was buried in Sherborne Abbey.

           iii.  Ethelred I King of England died on 23 Apr 871 in Battle at Horton Wilts. and was buried in Wimborne Minster.
