Palatine Emigrants to New York State (1710)
The Palatines originally came from the Palatinate area of south-west
Germany (over 160 years before the modern nation-state of Germany was
founded) and emigrated to New York State in 1710.
During Queen Anne's War (1702-1713) - the Palatinate area had been
invaded by France - and as supporters of Great Britain - about 3,000
Palatines were sponsored by Anne, Queen of Great Britain - to emigrate
to New York State.
