The Chateau of the Counts of Namur (now Citadel of Namur, Belgium) started as a wooden fort built by the early Counts of Namur. The medieval round towers were built towards the end of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th Centuries. The medieval bridge "Pont de Jambes" crossing the Meuse River - was built before 1228.

The Citadel of Namur is part of the Meuse Citadels - on the Belgian tentative list for submission as a UNESCO World Heritage Site candidate.

Albert II, Count of Namur (d.1064/1064) founded the original Collegiate Church in 1047.
Count Albert II’s brother-in-law Frederick of Lorraine was the first Dean and became Pope under the name Pope Stephen IX in 1057.
Count Albert II and his son Count Albert III (d.1102) are believed to have been Buried in the Collegiate Church.
The Collegiate Church became a Cathedral in 1559.

Henry "l'Aveugle" Count of Namur, Luxembourg, la Roche, Durbuy, and Longwy (d.1196) and his daughter Ermensende (d.1247) [wife of Walram III Duke of Limburg (d.1226)] were the last Count and Countess of Durbuy from the House of Namur.

Albert III Count of Namur’s (d. 1102) brother - Henry I, Count of Durbuy (d.1097) rebuilt the Chateau de Durbuy.

Pepin of Landen (d.c.640) [Charlemagne’s 3rd Great-Grandfather] built a villa in the early 7th Century at the site of Château de La Roche-en-Ardenne. The Castle later passed to Henry "l'Aveugle" Count of Namur, Luxembourg, la Roche, Durbuy, and Longwy (d.1196) [House of Namur] and via his daughter Ermensende (d.1247) [wife of Walram III Duke of Limburg (d.1226)] to her son Henry II/V "le Blond" Count of Luxembourg (d.1281) [House of Luxembourg].
